If it's allowed in French, then maybe it's allowed in Italian too? All I know is it's incorrect in English. Exactly my thought. I have sent this comment to Duo: "This is punctuated incorrectly in English. It would either be two sentences or separated by a semicolon, NOT a comma.

Is " that " preferable? Duo suggests that. In my opinion as a native speaker of English, that seems more natural. In fact, I wanted to write that even though it was not present in the Italian. This is one for which I am unable to provide a link or reason why. It might be an unreasoned preference. It might have something to do with relative pronouns.

Yes "that" is preferable in my opinion, as it is a reference to the preceding statement. On the other hand, I do not like the punctuation at all, but that is a different argument [native English speaker].

Reported as follows, It needs a semi-colon or a dash, or it is two sentences. You should not promulgate faulty English.
